Notes: Very good to excellent (for it's time) audience recording, documenting the first American performance by Paul McCartney since 1966. -(Info taken from original info file). :::: Review by Chappo: I had this recording on cassette about 15 years ago and the quality was pretty good even back then. This is a very nice audience recording and this CD version is less "tinny" sounding than the casette I had - the bass level has been increased a little. This is right up there in quality for an audience recording from 1976 - comparable to "Toronto 1976 Complete" and maybe just slightly superior due to having less tape faults.

Notes: Lineage: ECM-959DT > WM-D6 (ANALOG) > TC-WE475 > RCD-W500C W/SBM (Super Bit Mapping)

This recording has been circulating since '98 however this version is a new master cassette transfer from my original analog master tape (Jun. 2011).

My favorite show of the 4 i saw in '98. Edward was just on fire on this tour, some of the best playing i've ever heard from him. I know a lot of people didn't care for Gary Cherone but he's a great singer, just didn't fit with the VH fans. This is an excellent recording with very little crowd noise."TURN IT UP" Included in the torrent are some pics i took.

This is upload #95 from my "Master tape Collection". I'm going to start uploading shows from my 600+ masters which includes uncirculated recordings from 2003 thru the present. I've taped just about every show i've gone too since 1986 so you can imagine i have a lot of masters to share. Most of my recordings from 1986-2002 have been circulating as i used to do a lot of trading back in the day. All uploads however will be new master tape transfers directly from the master tape to CD. Enjoy! Brian

Personnel: Brian Jones :: Mick Jagger :: Keith Richards :: Charlie Watts :: Bill Wyman.
Notes: The original Rolling Stones lineup with Brian Jones has very few available concert recordings. Many radio and TV recordings survive but they aren't true concerts, just a few songs at a time. Fortunately for Stones fans, French radio recorded and broadcast four concerts in Paris from 1965 to 1967. The tapes have been rebroadcast several times over the years and been released on a number of bootlegs. All tracks were recorded at L'Olympia, Paris, France by French radio.

This compilation is my attempt to combine the best source for each song for each concert. Previous bootlegs simply used one broadcast or rebroadcast. You had the choice of listening to a complete concert in fair to good quality, or a few songs in excellent quality. Now, 3 out of the 4 concerts are 3 or 4 source merges; the 4th is a single source. I made this compilation in Nov. 2004 and no longer have the files, so these are extracted from the CDRs I made at the time. Most of the material is sourced from trade CDRs; source D is sourced from a silver pressed CD, all extracted at the time using EAC. Source C is from a low gen. cassette into my PC using a Turtle Beach Santa Cruz sound card.

I am told that the most recent rebroadcast was on French radio, July 1, 1995, in honor of the upcoming show at L'Olympia July 3, 1995. I am not sure if this is source A or C. I believe that this torrent is the source for DAC-007, "Paris Match," but have not heard it for comparison.

I named this compilation "Musicorama Mixdown" after the name of the French radio program and the process of mixing down multiple sources into one final product. Enjoy, there are some rare songs and great performances here

Personnel:Jimmy Page :: Chris Squire :: Alan White :: Robert Plant.

Notes: When Page/Plant were going to rehearse together with White/Squire for a new band, the UK music press was ignoring the news. After all, Zep and Yes where regarded then, in the New Wave time of the early eighties, as a dinosaurs from a bygone era. American Creem magazine was much happier, and ran a spread on the new band named XYZ (for Ex-Yes-Zeppelin). The rehearsals went for a week or so (note that already then they have forgotten JPJ phone number) before calling it off. About 15 years or so after, when these recordings first saw thheght of day on this CD - fans were happy to point out the great riff of Mind Drive - surely one of Page's genious riffs? Well... not exactly. Yes Keys to Ascention came out in 1997, and Mind Drive was there to prove that this was a pieace of music that was brought to XYZ by Chris Squire :-). <-(from original info file).

*** Circus Tour 1981 ***

Personnel: Robert Smith – vocals, guitar, keyboards :: Lol Tolhurst – drums :: Simon Gallup – bass .

Notes:  Complete show with final song 'A Forest' dedicated to Robert Palmer.
From liner notes : "As Robert misremembers in his book, 'Ten Imaginary Years', 'We'd only been on for about a half an hour and everything was running late so Robert Plamer's road crew started motioning to us to stop. This bloke ran on and said "If you don't stop playing, we're gonna pull the plug'. Simon immediately walked to the mike and shouted 'Fuck Robert Palmer! Fuck Rock'N'Roll!' and we were started playing a really slow version of 'A Forest' which lasted about 15 minutes. It was fucking brilliant. Unfortunately, when we finished, they threw all our stuff off the back of the stage..."
In fact, the song was not slow but long, with Robert singing alternate lyrics 'such a long end!', not 15 but around 9 minutes, and Simon Gallup didn't shout before but after.

Soundboard quality, released in 3-panel fold-out digi-sleeve.
Liner notes, Picture Tour May-July 1981 dates and live shoots printed inside.
CD in additional die-cut paper sleeve with clear plastic on the die-cut side.
The intro is a speech of a dutch journalist on crowd noises, this speaker repeats the Simon's 'Fuck Robert Palmer! Fuck Rock'N'Roll!' at the end of the last song. (discogs.com)

By the time The Cure played Werchter in July 1981 they had already begun their turn from pop into precursor goth. This was their first of many appearances at the Werchter Festival in Belgium. Filmed and broadcast, all titles of with this material originate from the radio broadcast.

One of the first CDs with this show is Unplugged And More (CDLC001). Much of the disc is occupied with the 1991 Unplugged set. The 1981 part is missing “A Forest.” A complete version was released afterwards called Kiss Me For Cure (ROLA 015) also with excellent sound. Fuck Rock ‘N’ Roll! on Godfather also contains the complete show and is sourced from an excellent recording of the radio broadcast. A DJ can be heard speaking, but doesn’t interfere with the music.

Their hour long set is deliberate and brilliant for the time. The title comes from bassist Simon Gallup’s statement at the end. According to Robert Smith, Robert Palmer’s road crew were trying to get The Cure off the stage so they could get everything ready for his set. The oblige by playing their song “A Forest” very slow, stretching the three minute song to three times its length.

Godfather package the show in a trifold gatefold sleeve with photos of the event including the front cover of Smith. It’s a good title for The Cure collector to have. (collectorsmusicreviews.com)
